(CNA, Taipei, June 9, by Pan Chih-yi) With low-earth orbit satellite giant SpaceX about to go public, related concept stocks saw a major rally during trading today. Wha Yu Industrial, a supplier of high-frequency microwave components and filters, reached a high of NT$1920, surging 7.56%. Compeq, which produces high-end high-density interconnect (HDI) boards, hit NT$274, a gain of over 7%. Wistron NeWeb Corp. (WNC), which is part of the Starlink satellite supply chain, rose 6.03% to NT$290.
Solar cell maker TSEC saw a slight increase. Taiwan Kong King (TKK), a producer of high-end copper clad laminates (CCL), reached NT$5040, up over 4%, and Iteq Corp. hit NT$253.5, a 4.1% increase.
Research firm TrendForce pointed out that in addition to continuously expanding its satellite broadband services, SpaceX is actively venturing into emerging fields such as direct-to-cell services, AI space computing, and Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP). By expanding its own space AI computing chip factory, Terafab, SpaceX is strengthening its vertical integration capabilities, pushing the LEO satellite industry from the communication service phase to a new computation service stage.
