As Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine continues into its fourth year, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev stated on Monday that his country will no longer provide weapons from its domestic military stockpiles to Kyiv, and called for a diplomatic solution to end the war.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), while Bulgaria's defense industry will remain a key supplier of ammunition to Kyiv, Radev said his government would stop supplying Ukrainian forces with weapons from the Bulgarian army's own stocks.
Speaking to the media before a cabinet meeting, he said: "We have already given enough, and our country continues to suffer socio-economic losses from this bloody war."
Radev, who was officially sworn in as prime minister last month, has previously called for dialogue with Russia and criticized military aid to Ukraine.
Radev stated he is convinced that "a peaceful solution to the war in Ukraine cannot be achieved through military means."
He further emphasized: "Therefore, we once again call for a comprehensive and pragmatic approach to this war and for seeking a diplomatic solution."
