(CNA reporter Yang Shu-min, Taipei, June 10) The Taipei Zoo announced today that it will be closed to the public from June 22 to July 1 for annual maintenance. Visitors are reminded to avoid planning trips during these 10 days. After various maintenance tasks are completed, the zoo will reopen on July 2 to provide better service quality during the summer vacation period.

The zoo explained in a press release that for 10 days from June 22 to July 1, before the summer break, the zoo needs to carry out various maintenance projects and will not be open to the public.

The zoo stated that the maintenance includes renovations of animal activity spaces, such as updating the climbing structures for orangutans in the Tropical Rainforest Area and clouded leopards in the Formosan Animal Area, pruning vegetation in the lemur enclosure in the African Animal Area, trimming the tree canopy in the Pangolin Dome, and updating native species exhibits in the Amphibian and Reptile House.

Also included are the cleaning of pavilions and exhibit hall floors, and repairing the exteriors of various buildings and recreational facilities like visitor pathways.

The zoo said that during this period, large machinery will be used to help trim trees, clear and dredge drainage ditches, repave park roads with asphalt, and inspect and repair fire, air conditioning, and electrical equipment.

Furthermore, the zoo mentioned that educational training courses such as regular diver training, ticketing staff training, and drills for summer snake appearances and visitor train incidents will also be conducted during this time. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150610
