(Central News Agency reporter Guo Xuanwen, Hsinchu County 10th) In a shooting murder that occurred last year in Zhudong Township, Hsinchu County, a local gang member surnamed Jiang, in retaliation for his father being assaulted by a gang leader surnamed Liu, conspired with five other members to murder the gang leader. The Hsinchu District Court sentenced Jiang to 30 years in prison for murder and other charges.
According to the indictment from the Hsinchu District Prosecutors Office, Jiang's father had been assaulted by the gang leader Liu. Jiang, harboring resentment, gathered other gang members, including individuals surnamed Chiu, Chien, Wen, Fan, and Kuo, to conspire to murder the gang leader Liu.
The indictment stated that to prepare for the crime, Jiang and his accomplices first obtained a vehicle for the operation. Kuo purchased the firearms, machetes, and disguises such as balaclavas to be used in the crime. They divided tasks, planned the operation, arranged for the vehicle, and coordinated the getaway.
According to the indictment, on the evening of January 24 last year, Jiang, along with Chiu, Chien, Wen, and Fan, armed with guns and machetes, stormed the gang leader Liu's stronghold. They opened fire and attacked those present with machetes, resulting in the immediate death of the gang leader Liu. The group then removed the surveillance system's hard drive and fled the scene. The Hsinchu District Prosecutors Office indicted Jiang and five others for murder.
The Hsinchu District Court announced its verdict on the 8th, sentencing Jiang to 30 years in prison for murder and other charges. Chiu received a sentence of 23 years and 6 months.
