(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Jiahao, Taipei, 11th) Taiwan's stock market continued to reflect geopolitical flashpoints and the decline in U.S. stocks on Monday. Coupled with profit-taking pressure at high levels, the market briefly turned positive to 43,463.03 points during the session before plunging again to a low of 42,006.39 points. The intraday swing exceeded 1,450 points, testing the 42,000-point mark. With bargain-hunting buying emerging, the decline narrowed to within 1,000 points.

As of 10:56 a.m., the Taiex index stood at 42,415.04 points, down 810.5 points or 1.88%, with turnover value at NT$793.691 billion. The electronics sub-index fell 1.83%, while the financial sub-index dropped 0.53%.

Renewed tensions in the Middle East sharply increased geopolitical risks, dealing a blow to U.S. stocks and the Asian electronics supply chain, with panic sentiment spreading rapidly. Under the shadow of expectations that inflation may remain high, U.S. high-tech stocks underwent a significant correction. TSMC's American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) fell 4.48%, dragging down Taiwan stocks.

Heavyweight TSMC went ex-dividend by NT$6 today, filling the gap in just 24 seconds, but its stock price hit a low of NT$2,210 during the session, down NT$40 or 1.78%. MediaTek fell below NT$4,000 during the session to a low of NT$3,880, a drop of over 6%.

Artificial intelligence (AI) concept stocks were generally weak. Quanta Computer fell over 5%, hitting a low of NT$359 during the session. Wistron fell over 3% to a low of NT$150.5. Delta Electronics dropped 4% to a low of NT$2,080.

Active ETFs saw significant adjustments. The active Uni-President Upgrade 50 (00403A) fell about 2% with volume exceeding 540,000 shares. The active Uni-President Taiwan Stock Growth (00981A) fell 2.5% with volume exceeding 250,000 shares. (Editor: Zhang Junmao)
