Taiwan Stock Market Falls 76.08 Points

(Central News Agency, Taipei, 11th) The Taipei stock market opened low and fluctuated today, closing down 76.08 points at 43,149.46 points, a decline of 0.18%, with a turnover of NT$1.257975 trillion.

The TAIEX (Weighted Index) opened at 43,172.21 points, with a high of 43,463.03 points and a low of 42,006.39 points during the session. The index excluding financial stocks closed at 38,773.77 points, down 82.94 points.

The performance of the eight major stock categories was as follows: Cement stocks rose 0.03%, Food stocks rose 0.89%, Plastics & Chemicals stocks fell 0.48%, Textile stocks fell 0.38%, Electrical & Machinery stocks fell 0.23%, Paper & Pulp stocks fell 1.23%, Construction stocks fell 0.83%, and Financial stocks rose 0.27%.

Buy orders totaled 24,557,593 lots, sell orders totaled 17,199,947 lots, and executed trades totaled 14,213,378 lots.

At the close, 453 stocks advanced, 561 declined, and 89 remained unchanged.

The top five stocks by trading volume were: Active Fund Uni-President Upgrade 50, Active Fund Uni-President Taiwan Stock Growth, Active Fund Fubon Taiwan Glory, Yuanta Taiwan Top 50 ETF (2x Leverage), and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC).

The top five gainers were: BCL, Formosa Sumco Technology, Nanya Technology, Giga-Byte Technology, and Mag. Layers Scientific-Technics.

The top five losers were: CCPC, ShunSin Technology, Visual Photonics Epitaxy, Fubon Multimedia, and Shinfox Energy.
