(Central News Agency, reporter Li Jianzhong, Taipei, 11th) The Chinese Culture, Education and Sports Exchange Promotion Association recently joined forces with the Elementary School Sports Federation and Highwealth Construction to go deep into the remote areas of Yilan County, donating 50 brand-new basketballs and stationery supplies to the Si-Ji Elementary School basketball team, fulfilling corporate social responsibility and delivering tangible warmth and support.

Li Yulong, Secretary-General of the Chinese Culture, Education and Sports Exchange Promotion Association, stated, "This time, we partnered with Highwealth Construction to bring basketball resources to Si-Ji Elementary School in remote Yilan County precisely because these young players won the small-school category championship at this year's EBC National Basketball Championship. To give them the most substantial encouragement and recognition, we decided to support them with concrete action."

Chen Huanxiu, Chairman of the Elementary School Sports Federation, mentioned, "When I saw the children receive the brand-new basketballs, their pure smiles made the long mountain journey worthwhile."

The Si-Ji Elementary School basketball team was formed only four years ago but has already created a sensation in Taiwan's grassroots basketball scene. The team of over 20 young players has won multiple championship trophies in the past two years, including the National Summer Youth Basketball Championship and the National Elementary School Basketball Championship.

Shen Sihan, coach of the Si-Ji Elementary School basketball team, admitted, "Yilan is rainy, and due to venue and regulatory limitations, the school cannot build a compliant indoor activity center. Under these constraints, the children can only practice depending on the weather and frequently go down the mountain during summer and winter breaks to 'substitute games for training' to accumulate practical experience."

Chen Yihan, a sixth-grade key player, was visibly delighted to receive the new ball. "The old ball would become very slippery and hard to grip when wet. With a new ball, we can definitely play better," he said.

He also shared that the team practices twice a day, four days a week, running in the morning for basic training and focusing on tactics and scrimmages in the afternoon. As he is about to graduate, he plans to attend the prestigious sports school Zhuangwei Junior High School to continue pursuing his basketball dream. (Editor: Li Xizhang) 1150611
