(CNA Dubai/Washington/Paris 12th Comprehensive Foreign Dispatch) A Western source told Reuters today that a memorandum between the United States and Iran to end the Persian Gulf War could be signed as early as the 14th, most likely in Geneva, Switzerland.

According to the Reuters report, the source stated that final revisions to the text of the memorandum are still underway. Iran insists that the agreement must simultaneously end the fighting in Lebanon. Israel continues to battle Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Lebanese Shiite fundamentalist militia, in the region.

The source noted that the goal is to finalize the text by tomorrow so it can be co-signed by US Vice President J.D. Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. Although the location has not been finalized, Geneva is the most likely choice.

US President Donald Trump stated yesterday that because the agreement is ready, he has canceled a new round of attacks on Iran.

He told reporters at the White House at the time: "We just reached a great solution for the Iran war."

However, the terms of the agreement described by Iranian officials today indicate that Tehran's demands appear to have been mostly met so far, while Trump seems to have fallen short of his objectives, except for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which was blockaded by Iran after he ordered attacks in February.

A senior Iranian source told Reuters today that the draft will exempt Iranian oil from sanctions, unfreeze billions of dollars in assets, and require a comprehensive ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.

The nuclear issue will be left for future talks. Washington wants to ensure Iran never develops nuclear weapons, while Iran insists it has no such intention.

Lifting sanctions, unfreezing assets, and halting Israeli attacks on Lebanon are all core demands of Iran. The source did not mention how Iran might respond. There was no immediate response from the US side.

Iran's Mehr News Agency reported that the terms of the agreement include other significant concessions by the US, such as a commitment to withdraw US troops deployed around Iran and proposing specific plans to rebuild Iran's economy.

The report stated: "The United States and its allies must propose an Iran reconstruction plan worth at least 300 billion US dollars." (Translation: He Hongru) 1150612
