The Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (TABF) continues to expand its European financial cooperation network. Led by Chairman Lei Chung-ta, a TABF delegation visited Italy and signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with ECS Academy, the training institution under Euronext, in Milan, and with ABIFormazione, the training arm of the Italian Banking Association (ABI), in Rome. These agreements aim to deepen financial talent cultivation and professional exchange between Taiwan and Italy.
According to a press release from the Economic Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Italy, the collaboration covers two core areas of the European financial system: capital markets and banking. In Milan, TABF signed the MOU with ECS Academy, focusing on capital market development, asset management, and cross-border financial innovation. In Rome, the agreement with ABIFormazione includes cooperation in banking professional training, high-net-worth wealth management, family offices, and digital learning innovation.
The signing ceremony in Milan was witnessed by Lin Tsan-nan, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Milan, while the Rome event was attended by Representative Tsai Yun-chung of the Taipei Representative Office in Italy, underscoring the significance of bilateral financial cooperation.
The Economic Division noted that Taiwan and Italy are both economies centered on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), sharing common challenges in industrial upgrading, business succession, and financial transformation. This partnership will establish a closer exchange platform to promote financial support for the real economy and enhance the international perspective and practical capabilities of financial professionals.
In recent years, Taiwan's capital markets have gained increasing international visibility, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and the semiconductor industry. The government is also actively promoting the 'Asia Asset Management Hub' initiative to strengthen the asset management sector. TABF aims to introduce international market practices and expertise through collaboration with key European financial institutions, helping Taiwan's financial industry grasp global financial trends.
Italy's banking system, with its extensive experience in business succession, family enterprise services, and cross-border wealth management, offers valuable insights for Taiwan's development of private banking and family office services. Future cooperation will continue to advance in areas such as high-net-worth wealth management, banking training, and digital learning innovation.
Chairman Lei stated that the dual-city signings in Milan and Rome symbolize TABF's expanded European footprint into both capital markets and banking systems, marking a new chapter in Taiwan-Italy financial cooperation. Moving forward, TABF will continue to deepen international partnerships, aligning Taiwan's financial talent with global trends and enhancing the international competitiveness of the financial industry.
