(Central News Agency reporter Huang Chiao-wen, Taipei, June 12) An incident occurred this afternoon at Taiwan Railways Administration's (TRA) Kaohsiung Station, where a passenger intruded onto the tracks and was hit by Train No. 165, a Tzu-Chiang Express. TRA stated that downline trains at Kaohsiung Station are currently operating on two tracks, allowing both up and down services to run normally. Follow-up actions are being handled continuously by the railway police.

Regarding the passenger track intrusion incident at TRA's Kaohsiung Station, TRA explained via announcement that at 5:20 PM today, one passenger entered the tracks at Kaohsiung Station and was struck by Train No. 165, the Tzu-Chiang Express. Emergency response teams, including railway police and emergency medical services (119), were immediately dispatched to the scene.

TRA indicated that downline trains at Kaohsiung Station are currently operating using two tracks, and both up and down train services are able to operate normally. The follow-up investigation is being continuously managed by the railway police.

TRA urges the public to respect and value life and refrain from entering railway tracks, as such incidents may lead to train accidents, delay travelers' schedules, and affect the public's right to safe and reliable transportation. (Editor: Kuan Chung-wei) 1150612
