Thailand's First IP Art Exhibition Launches in Bangkok with Taiwanese Artists Invited

(CNA reporter Li Tsung-hsien, Bangkok, June 17) Thailand's first art exhibition integrating creativity and character IPs will launch tomorrow in Bangkok, gathering participants from over 10 countries including Taiwan, the U.S., and Japan, with more than 60 galleries and artists taking part. The organizers state that the theme of the exhibition is 'Free to Bloom,' aiming to create a creative space where artists and emerging creators from across Asia can showcase their talents.

The first edition of Thailand's International Creative & IP Art Exhibition, 'THΞPOP 2026,' will be held from June 18 to 21 at the Pulse Zone of CentralWorld shopping mall in Bangkok. The organizing body, Bangkok Contemporary Art Fair (BCAF), emphasizes that this exhibition differs from traditional art and trendy toy markets by serving as a professional platform centered on character IPs.

BCAF CEO Yang Ching-li told CNA that, having long worked in art trading and curation, she discovered many creators possess strong creative energy but lack platforms to connect with markets and potential partners—prompting her decision to launch an IP-focused international exhibition.

She noted that in recent years, character IPs, collectibles, and related licensing markets have gained attention. 'This exhibition is not merely an event, but a complete ecosystem designed to help the next generation of creators launch their IPs onto the international stage from Bangkok,' she said.

Exhibition highlights include a special showcase by Taiwanese illustrator Chen Yu-ling. Yang explained that Chen, previously known for children's books and illustrations, will not only display her artworks but also present ceramic creations themed around cats, aiming to demonstrate the artist's versatility across different media.

Additionally, featured works include the popular Taiwanese IP 'The Royal Life of Huang Amma,' U.S.-based handmade brand Space Rabbit Studio, and Hong Kong's trendy toy brand Fools Paradise.

The organizers will also host licensing matchmaking events, inviting international buyers and industry professionals to promote exchanges among creators, brands, and buyers, and expand collaboration opportunities for Asian creative content and the IP industry. (Edited by Chang Chih-hsuan) 1150617
