Taiwan Stock Market Rises 2296 Points This Week, Total Market Capitalization Reaches NT$151.6 Trillion

TAIPEI, June 18 (CNA) - The Taiwan stock market closed at 46465.20 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, marking a weekly gain of 2296.16 points, or 5.2%, setting a new record high for the closing index. The market was open for only four days this week due to the Dragon Boat Festival. According to Taiwan Stock Exchange statistics, the total market capitalization of listed companies reached NT$151.6057 trillion, breaking the NT$150 trillion mark and increasing by approximately NT$7.49 trillion from last Friday.

In terms of industry sector indices, the plastics sector saw the largest increase this week, rising by 21.18%, while the rubber sector experienced the largest decline, falling by 7.7%. The index excluding financial stocks rose by 1964.62 points, a gain of about 4.94%. The index excluding electronics stocks rose by 1264.71 points, a gain of about 5.63%. The index excluding financial and electronics stocks rose by 542.04 points, a gain of about 3.65%.

This week, the total trading value of all listed stocks was NT$4.774 trillion. The top three industries by trading value were semiconductors, with NT$1.9525 trillion in trading value, accounting for 40.9% of the total trading value of listed stocks; electronic components, with NT$1.1843 trillion in trading value, accounting for 24.81%; and optoelectronics, with NT$352.613 billion in trading value, accounting for 7.39%.

This week, the turnover rate of the stock market was 3.76%. The top three industries by turnover rate were optoelectronics at 15.79%, electronic components at 11.24%, and glass and ceramics at 10.53%.

Year-to-date, over 109 trading days, the total trading value of the stock market has been NT$108.8283 trillion, with an average daily trading value of NT$998.425 billion. The stock turnover rate has been 97.35%, with an average daily stock turnover rate of 0.89%. (Editor: Chang Liang-chih) 1150618
