New Drama Adapts Junji Ito's Work; Gigi Leung and Constance Chan Play Mother-Daughter Duo

(CNA, Taipei, June 18) Singer Gigi Leung (梁詠琪) and Constance Chan (陳姸霏) star in the live-action original series "The Ingenious Town," adapted from the works of Japanese horror manga master Junji Ito. In the trailer, Chan is chased by a group of zombie-like students with tilted heads, and Dee Hsu's eldest daughter, Elly Hsu (許曦文), plays the "Slug Girl."

The series "The Ingenious Town" released its latest trailer today. According to the press release, the trailer opens with Chan being chased by a group of zombie-like students with tilted heads. At the same time, classic manga characters from Junji Ito's works appear one by one. Liu Hsiu-fu (劉修甫) transforms into a strange person with candles stuck in his head and iron in his mouth. Dee Hsu's eldest daughter, Elly Hsu, slowly opens her mouth at the end, with slimy, wriggling slug tentacles emerging, paying homage to "The Slug Girl." The eerie scenes push the audience's senses to the limit.

"The Ingenious Town" centers on a high-pressure academic culture. Constance Chan plays a repeat student who, along with her single mother played by Gigi Leung, moves into the mysterious "Chongming Town," which boasts a 100% college admission rate. They enter the fiercely competitive "Chongming Cram School." However, as the exams approach, Chan realizes that her classmates are starting to act strangely, also revealing a dark, unspeakable secret hidden behind the town.
