(Central News Agency reporter Cao Yayan, Huang Xusheng New Taipei, June 18) The annual religious event in Tamsui, New Taipei, the Qing Shui Zu Shi pilgrimage, will begin on the 19th. It coincides with the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, and a large number of believers and tourists are expected to flock to the area. Traffic control will be implemented on the roads in Tamsui city center, with vehicles not belonging to residents prohibited from entering and buses rerouted. The Tamsui-Xinyi Line will also add extra services.

The Qing Shui Zu Shi pilgrimage, commonly known as the "Tamsui Grand Festival," will be held on June 19th and 20th. The procession will pass through roads around Tamsui Old Street, Zhongzheng Road, Zhongshan Road, Xuefu Road, Qingshui Street, and Yingzhuan Road.

The Tamsui Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department stated that from 1:00 PM on June 19th to 1:00 AM the following day, and from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM on June 20th, traffic control will be implemented on the roads within Tamsui city center west of Danjin Road, south of Xinchun Street and Lane 212 of Section 1, Zhongshan North Road, and east of Zhongzheng Road. During this period, except for flexible passage for residents, official vehicles, ambulances, and media vehicles, cars not belonging to residents within Tamsui city center will be prohibited from entering the city.

The police explained that during the control period, travelers descending from the Tamsui-Xinyi Bridge will be prohibited from turning right towards the city center and can only proceed straight along Shalu Road and then along non-controlled sections such as Binhai Road and Danjin Road to reach the North Coast or Taipei City. Parking lots within the controlled area, such as Shuixian Parking Lot and Sanmin Parking Lot, will not be open to the public. Buses (including free shuttle buses) will be rerouted and will not pass through Tamsui city center; their starting and ending points will be the plaza in front of MRT Tamsui Station.

New Taipei Metro stated that in response to the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and the Qing Shui Zu Shi pilgrimage, from June 19th to 21st, during the holiday period, the Tamsui-Xinyi Line will add approximately 22 extra services during the peak hours of 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The public can check train arrival times on the New Taipei Metro official website or at station systems.

In addition, the New Taipei City Traffic Police Brigade reminds the public that during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, National Freeway No. 5 will have its Shiding and Pinglin southbound entrance ramps closed from 12:00 AM to 12:00 PM on June 19th and from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM on June 20th. From 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on June 20th and 21st, high-occupancy vehicle controls will be implemented on the northbound entrance ramps of the Suao, Luodong, Yilan, and Toucheng interchanges.
