Meinong Kaohsiung 147 New Rice Launched, Su Chiao-hui and Chiu Yi-ying Jointly Recommend

The Meinong District Farmers' Association in Kaohsiung City held a promotional event for the launch of "Meinong Kaohsiung 147" new rice at the Banqiao District Farmers' Association Vitality Supermarket in New Taipei City today. Zhong Qing-hui, Secretary-General of the Meinong District Farmers' Association, stated that Kaohsiung 147 is known as the "Hermes of Rice" due to its excellent grain quality and delicate taro aroma, and is deeply loved by consumers.

Zhong Qing-hui pointed out that when Meinong first participated in the National Rice Quality Competition 22 years ago, it achieved a national second place at the Banqiao District Farmers' Association, making Banqiao a "lucky place" for Meinong rice. Choosing Banqiao again as the starting point for promotion in the north is particularly meaningful.

He stated that the characteristics of "Meinong Kaohsiung 147" stem from its insistence on variety, quality, and brand. With the cultivation of varieties by the Kaohsiung District Agricultural Improvement Station and the support of the Kaohsiung City Government's Agriculture Bureau, Meinong became the first contract farming zone to obtain the "Kaohsiung 147" variety rights in 2012. The current contract farming area has reached 550 hectares, with 572 farmers participating.

Zhong Qing-hui said that the farmers' association strictly controls the entire process, from seedling cultivation, contract management, plant doctor patrols, drone pest and disease control, to the establishment of production and marketing traceability, pre-harvest rapid screening, and specialized drying and processing, ensuring stable rice quality.

The Meinong District Farmers' Association stated that in addition to existing channels, they are also cooperating with the New Taipei City Farmers' Association, Banqiao District Farmers' Association, and Luzhou District Farmers' Association, hoping to allow consumers in the north to taste the fragrance of Meinong rice during the new rice season, demonstrating the results of cooperation between urban and rural farmers' associations.

Guo Jin-yuan, Chairman of the Banqiao District Farmers' Association, said that Banqiao Farmers' Association Vitality Supermarket has long supported high-quality domestic agricultural products. In May this year, he led a delegation to Meinong for exchange and ordered new rice during the harvest season. This time, they are also supporting the launch of Meinong's new rice to jointly promote a virtuous cycle in agriculture.

During the event, Chiu Shu-fei, Chiu Yi-ying, Su Chiao-hui, and Chang Hung-lu jointly recommended the rice. Chiu Yi-ying expressed hope that more consumers will support high-quality domestic agricultural products with New Taiwan Dollars; Su Chiao-hui said that the cooperation between Meinong and Banqiao farmers' associations in promotion demonstrates the achievements of Taiwan's agricultural production and marketing cooperation.
