(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 18) The TRA Jiji Branch Line resumed service to Jiji Station on January 5 this year. To celebrate the full resumption of service to Checheng Station on June 25, TRA announced today that it will launch a commemorative gift package and Jiji Line Q-version leopard cat commemorative tickets.
The beloved tourist railway, the Jiji Branch Line, departs from Ershui Station in Changhua, passing through Yuanshan Station into Nantou County's Zhuoshui Station, Longquan Station, Jiji Station, Shuili Station, and the terminal station Checheng Station. Due to slope collapse and tunnel damage on Provincial Highway 16 in 2021, service between Zhuoshui and Checheng was suspended. After the construction unit's full efforts in restoration, the first phase of service resumed to Jiji Station on January 5 this year.
TRA issued a press release stating that after nearly half a year of repair and preparation, full service to Checheng Station will officially resume on June 25, allowing passengers to once again travel through the mountains and forests by train and relive the unique railway scenery.
To celebrate the full resumption of service on the Jiji Branch Line, TRA pointed out that it has specially launched "Jiji Line Q-version Leopard Cat Commemorative Tickets." Featuring the leopard cat, an endemic species of Taiwan, as the design protagonist, and incorporating characteristic scenic spots and railway elements along the Jiji Line, these tickets combine transportation functionality with collection value.
TRA stated that these commemorative tickets are limited edition local train tickets. A total of four exclusive designs will be launched, featuring Ershui Station, Jiji Station, Shuili Station, and Checheng Station. Passengers can purchase the corresponding commemorative ticket design if either the origin or destination station on the ticket is Ershui Station, Jiji Station, Shuili Station, or Checheng Station. If the origin and destination stations are both among Ershui Station, Jiji Station, Shuili Station, or Zhuoshui Station, the destination station's design will be used.
The tickets are valid for travel from June 25, 2026, to August 31, 2026. Passengers can purchase them at ticket windows and automatic ticket machines (for tickets originating from the current station only) at all stations nationwide. Additionally, only Ershui Station, Shuili Station, and Zhuoshui Station on the Jiji Line offer ticket sales services.
In addition to the commemorative tickets, TRA announced that starting at 9 a.m. on June 22, a limited number of "Special Train Commemorative Gift Packages" will be sold at the designated Window 7 of Taichung Station. Each package will be priced at NT$499 (cash only) and will include a special train commemorative ticket, a Jiji Line one-day pass, a special commemorative folder, and an electronic ticket, each one.
TRA stated that passengers who purchase the commemorative gift package can use the special train commemorative ticket included in the package to board the special train 2425 to Checheng Station on June 25. This train will stop at stations including Taichung, Xinwuri, Ershui, and Checheng. (Editor: Li Hengshan) 1150618
