Elderly Woman Suffers Gallbladder Attack on Remote Island; Penghu Coast Guard Conducts Emergency Rescue

(Central News Agency, Penghu, June 18) A 76-year-old woman from Wang'an Township, Penghu County, suffered a gallbladder attack late last night. Upon receiving the report, the Penghu Coast Guard immediately notified a patrol vessel on maritime duty to proceed with the rescue. The patient was escorted to Magong and transferred to an ambulance bound for the Tri-Service General Hospital Penghu Branch.

The 13th Patrol Zone of the Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu Branch of the Coast Guard Administration reported that at around 10:00 PM last night, they received notification from Wang'an Township Health Center that a 76-year-old woman urgently required medical evacuation due to acute cholecystitis. The Penghu Coast Guard immediately dispatched an on-duty patrol vessel for rescue and evacuation, while simultaneously notifying the 7th Coastal Patrol Team's Magong Inspection Station and the Fire Bureau to coordinate response efforts.

The Penghu patrol vessel arrived at Tanmen Harbor on Wang'an Island at approximately 11:00 PM last night, transferred the patient onboard, and immediately returned to Magong Harbor at maximum speed, arriving at 11:22 PM. The patient was handed over to an ambulance from the Penghu Fire Bureau and transported to the Tri-Service General Hospital Penghu Branch for treatment.

The Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu Branch of the Coast Guard Administration emphasized that due to insufficient medical resources on remote islands, they adhere to the principle of 'time is life, speed is hope' to safeguard the lives and medical rights of island residents. The public is urged to call the Coast Guard's service hotline at 118 or contact local health centers for assessment and reporting when assistance is needed.
