(Taipei, June 18, CNA) Hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, a new round of exchanges of fire erupted between Russia and Ukraine. Russia launched missiles at Kyiv, while Ukrainian drones attacked a Moscow refinery.

Reuters reporters heard explosions in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. Authorities in Ukraine's northeastern Sumy Oblast stated that one person was killed in a drone attack. Air raid sirens were also issued across most of Ukraine.

This is the second attack on Kyiv this week, as Zelenskyy attempts to increase pressure on Russia to negotiate an end to the four-year war.

Zelenskyy stated that he held talks with leaders, including U.S. President Trump and French President Macron, on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit held in a French town. He said the purpose of the talks was to end Russia's war on Ukraine.

On the Russian side, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on the messaging app Telegram that a drone attack had targeted a Moscow refinery, marking the second attack on the refinery this week.

Sources revealed that Ukrainian drone attacks had previously forced the refinery to halt operations, further expanding losses at multiple Russian energy facilities and exacerbating an oil crisis in Russia. (Compiled by Chi Chin-ling) 1150618
