Taipei, June 18 (CNA) -- The PLG's Taoyuan Pauian Pilots defeated the Taipei Fubon Braves 107-81 today, successfully defending their championship title and achieving a second consecutive league victory. American import Alec Brown was named the Finals MVP, while local star Lu Chun-hsiang declared his ambition to pursue a personal first three-peat next year.

The defending champions, the Pilots, faced the Braves in their home arena today in the decisive Game 7 of the best-of-seven finals. The Pilots established an early commanding lead with a balanced offensive attack. Local star Lu Chun-hsiang took over in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points to seal the victory by 26 points on their home court, thus securing their second consecutive championship.

Lu Chun-hsiang led all scorers with a game-high 26 points, including four three-pointers, and dished out 7 assists. Newly registered import Seth Millner Jr. played a crucial role, contributing 24 points, the second-highest on the team. International student D. J. Newbill delivered a strong all-around performance with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

In the post-game press conference, Pilots head coach Iurgi Caminos stated that the finals were incredibly challenging, with many obstacles encountered along the way. However, the entire team demonstrated resilience, refusing to give up even when facing adversity. They finally rediscovered the Pilots' team style in Game 7, emphasizing ball movement and numerous assists. "We played with a lot of energy in the first quarter, and I'm very happy we ended this season with smiles," he said.

Caminos added that the biggest challenge in winning this championship was maintaining the team's focus, especially after securing the top seed in the regular season, which created a "downtime." Fortunately, the players had developed good habits, enabling them to achieve their goal. He jokingly suggested a "Taiwan Series" against the TPBL champions, Formosa Dreamers, to determine "who is the real champion of Taiwan."

Alec Brown, who was awarded the Finals MVP (FMVP), commented, "Winning the championship is the best. The team started the season smoothly, but our performance dipped later on. However, everyone continuously compensated through defensive details and sheer effort. I'm proud of these teammates."

Local star Lu Chun-hsiang also expressed his aspirations, stating, "I hope to pursue a personal first three-peat next year. Although we went through a very tough process, the taste of winning the championship is very sweet." (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150618)
