Central News Agency (CNA), New Taipei City, June 19. Regarding the potential cooperation between the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) in the Zhubei mayoral election, TPP Chairman Huang Kuo-chang stated today that an analysis of supporter demographics and historical election data indicates that a candidate lineup featuring Kao Hung-an, Hsu Hsin-ying, and Chiu Chen-yuan would form the 'strongest iron triangle.' This configuration, he argues, provides the greatest incentive for both Blue and White camp supporters to cast their votes.
Following the KMT’s primary for the Zhubei mayoral race, New Taipei City Councilor Wu Hsu-chih was selected as their candidate, while the TPP has nominated former Hsinchu City Deputy Mayor Chiu Chen-yuan.
Speaking at the New Taipei City Council Cup Dragon Boat Championship today, Huang addressed media inquiries regarding potential concessions to the KMT. He reaffirmed that the 'iron triangle' strategy—leveraging the support bases of Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an, KMT Hsinchu County executive candidate Hsu Hsin-ying, and TPP candidate Chiu Chen-yuan—offers the highest probability of electoral success. Huang expressed confidence that both parties would honor their previous commitments to maximize their chances of winning.
Additionally, Huang addressed the upcoming joint appearance of former TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je and DPP legislative caucus whip Ker Chien-ming. While stating he views the meeting neutrally, Huang questioned the DPP’s sincerity. He recalled that during a previous meeting, Ker promised a favorable response regarding the 'Artificial Reproduction Act,' yet TPP legislator Chen Chao-chih later faced personal attacks and smears from DPP members. Huang suggested that Ker should explain these discrepancies when he meets with Ko Wen-je.
