Taipei, June 21 (CNA) The 2026 State Youth Flagship Camp, organized by the Democratic Progressive Party's Youth Department, will be held in Taipei from July 24 to 26. The DPP's Youth Department stated that President Lai Ching-te will serve as a lecturer to engage in face-to-face discussions with young people on generational issues that concern them most, working together to spark better policy ideas for Taiwan's next generation. Camp registration will close at 11:59 PM tonight, and enthusiastic young people interested in democratic politics and public affairs are welcome to join.
The theme for this year's State Youth Flagship Camp, organized by the DPP's Youth Department, is "Democracy with You - You Need Democracy." The Youth Department pointed out that this camp invites a national-level governance team, offering top-tier practical courses from the Presidential Office, executive agencies, legislative caucuses, the central party headquarters, and local councils, guaranteeing an exceptionally exciting and content-rich experience.
The Youth Department stated that President Lai Ching-te, who also serves as the Chairman of the DPP, and DPP Secretary-General Hsu Cho-jung will appear at the State Youth Flagship Camp. Young people will have the opportunity for face-to-face interaction with the President to discuss generational issues that concern them most, working together to spark better policy ideas for Taiwan's next generation. They can also hear Hsu Cho-jung demystify and share the hardships of party affairs and election campaigns that are not taught in textbooks.
The Youth Department said that young people can not only participate in politics but also become a force for change in their hometowns. This year's State Youth Flagship Camp will invite three young local mayoral candidates from northern, central, and southern Taiwan: Han Ying, a candidate for mayor of Yilan City; Tseng Wen-hsueh, a candidate for mayor of Toufen City; and Liang Yu-tzu, a candidate for mayor of Pingtung City. They will share how they transitioned into the political arena from different fields, rooted themselves in their local communities, and created change for their hometowns.
In addition, the Youth Department stated that the camp will also invite heavyweight lecturers from the front lines of national governance to guide participants in understanding how national governance operates from various perspectives. These include Minister of the Interior Liu Shih-fang, Vice Chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council Liang Wen-chieh, and Legislator Lin Chu-yin.
The Youth Department said that camp registration closes tonight. Young people under the age of 30 who are enthusiastic about democratic politics and public affairs and are willing to join the State Youth team are welcome to register before 11:59 PM tonight.
Huang Sheng-wen, Director of the DPP's Youth Department, stated that this is the seventh year the State Youth Flagship Camp has been held, and it is returning to Taipei City. In recent years, Taipei City has lost its stature as a capital city and is no longer a city where young people aspire to pursue their dreams. The camp's decision to return to Taipei is intended to reawaken young people's passion and motivation to participate in public affairs.
Huang Sheng-wen said that professional lecturers from the Presidential Office, the Executive Yuan, and the Party will share the hardships and achievements of political work, hoping to reawaken young people's passion for public affairs through the camp. (Edited by Lin Ke-lun) 0621
