(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Ruiqi, Taoyuan, June 22) The Taoyuan City Police Department's Security Police Brigade stated today that officers on patrol in Zhongli District last night discovered a Mercedes-Benz parked illegally. During the inspection, they found that the female passenger was in possession of heroin and etomidate vapes. The case has been transferred for investigation in accordance with the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act.

Zhang Dongqiang, a squad leader from the First Squadron of the Security Police Brigade, told reporters today that officers were on patrol around 9 PM yesterday and found a Mercedes-Benz parked illegally on the roadside. Upon approaching for an inspection, they noticed that the short-haired female passenger in the car appeared unusually nervous and was at a loss when questioned. Her hands were clenched, and she seemed to be attempting to conceal contraband on her person, which drew the officers' attention.

Zhang Dongqiang pointed out that after a further search, the police immediately found the Class 1 narcotic, heroin, and etomidate vapes, commonly known as "zombie vapes," among other drugs on the woman. The woman confessed to the officers that due to her sales job and long-term work stress, she used drugs to relieve her emotions, but unexpectedly, she was apprehended by the police.

Zhang Dongqiang stated that after interrogation, the case was transferred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for investigation in accordance with the violation of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act. The police also urge the public to recognize that drugs harm physical and mental health, and they will continue to strengthen efforts to crack down on drug-related cases and drugged driving to maintain social order and traffic safety.
