NEW YORK (CNA) - With the situation in the Persian Gulf still uncertain, US stocks saw mixed movements today, with the Dow Jones and Philadelphia Semiconductor indices rising. Tech stocks were divided, with AI big data companies Alphabet and Amazon declining, but the market remains optimistic about the prospects of some major chip manufacturers. SpaceX, preparing to issue bonds just a week after its IPO, faces market skepticism and has fallen sharply by 16.43%.

While US-Iran negotiations have seen some progress, easing tensions in the Persian Gulf, significant differences remain on key issues such as enriched uranium and Israel. Major US stock indices experienced mixed results on the 22nd. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose slightly by 0.29%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices fell by 0.37% and 1.32% respectively. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index gained 2.04%.

Concerns about potential overheating in artificial intelligence stocks led the big data company Google's parent company, Alphabet, to fall 5.08% on negative news. Amazon, Facebook's parent company Meta, and Microsoft also declined, dropping 4.75%, 2.32%, and 3.18% respectively.

Memory chip giant Micron is scheduled to announce its earnings on the 24th. Investors believe that AI is driving demand for memory chips, leading to a supply shortage and rising prices. Micron surged 6.82% today, closing at $1211.38. In total, its stock price has remained above $1000 for the past five trading days, with an increase of nearly 15%.

Driven by memory chips, the stock prices of major manufacturers have risen. South Korean giant SK Hynix has seen its stock price increase by over 20% in the past five trading days, with its market capitalization approaching that of industry leader Samsung Electronics. Media reports suggest that Hynix may issue ADRs (American Depositary Receipts) as early as August, worth $14 billion.

Intel rose 5.19%, while Nvidia fell 0.97%. TSMC ADR closed up 1.20%, and UMC ADR surged 14.20% influenced by news.

SpaceX, a space technology and AI company, fell sharply by 16.43% today, marking its third consecutive day of decline. Its gain from the IPO price of $135 has narrowed to 14.5%, closing at $154.60. The company's market value has evaporated by approximately $600 billion (about NT$19.03 trillion) in recent days.

Just a week after its IPO, SpaceX is planning to issue $20 billion in bonds to fund the construction of data and computing centers, power infrastructure, and more. Although the three major credit rating agencies have assigned investment-grade ratings, the market has expressed differing views on SpaceX's rapid expansion and its decision to issue bonds so soon after going public.
