Unlicensed Driver Under Investigation in Luodong Following Child Falling Incident

On June 21, a woman in her 20s, surnamed Lin, was involved in an incident in Luodong Township, Yilan County, where her 4-year-old niece fell while attempting to board her vehicle. Dashcam footage shows the child standing near the open right rear door when the vehicle suddenly moved forward and began a U-turn. The child lost her balance and fell; while the vehicle did not run over her, the driver continued the maneuver until alerted by nearby motorists.

The incident, which circulated on social media, drew public attention regarding the driver's conduct and child safety. The Luodong Precinct of the Yilan County Police Bureau confirmed today that Lin faces five charges: driving without a license, illegal parking in a red zone, moving the vehicle with doors open, crossing double yellow lines, and failure to signal. Authorities will issue fines accordingly and have reported the case to social services for potential child welfare concerns.
