Trip to Germany and Netherlands: Huang Min-hui Hopes to Draw on Experience to Build a Sustainable Chiayi City

(CNA reporter Huang Kuo-fang, Chiayi City, June 23) Chiayi Mayor Huang Min-hui arrived in Frankfurt, Germany yesterday to begin an inspection tour of Germany and the Netherlands. The tour will focus on topics such as environmental protection technology, the circular economy, and urban planning, drawing on the successful experiences of European cities in promoting sustainable development as an important reference for city governance.

Chiayi City Government announced in a press release today that upon arrival, Huang Min-hui led a delegation from the city government to pay a visit to Luo Mei-shun, Director of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, Frankfurt Branch, and others. The interaction was enthusiastic.

Huang Min-hui stated that in the face of the wave of net-zero transformation and sustainable development, city governance must continue to connect with the world. This European inspection tour to Germany and the Netherlands aims to understand the concrete practices of Europe in environmental facility integration, circular economy promotion, urban planning, and cultural tourism development, and to introduce international experience as important nourishment for Chiayi City's promotion of new sustainable policies.

Huang Min-hui pointed out that one of the highlights of this trip is a visit to the Lippewerk environmental park of the Remondis Group in Lünen, Germany. This park is one of Europe's representative circular economy bases and a large-scale resource recycling base. She hopes to use the park's operational management model, resource reuse technology, and recycled product application experience as an important reference for Chiayi City's promotion of a green and sustainable circular park.

Huang Min-hui mentioned that the green and sustainable circular park is an important milestone for Chiayi City to achieve self-sufficiency in waste treatment and implement the circular economy. It is also a key construction project for realizing the vision of a sustainable city. Therefore, visiting the Lippewerk environmental park's operational management and recycled product application experience will further enhance resource recycling efficiency and self-processing capabilities.

Luo Mei-shun stated in a press release that Germany holds an important position in Europe in the fields of environmental protection, machinery, and science.
