(CNA reporter Ho Hsiu-ling Taipei, June 24) The 2026 Taipei International Food Show Series opened today. Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chairman Huang Chih-fang stated that this year, 33 countries and 1750 companies are exhibiting, utilizing 4700 booths, marking the largest scale since the COVID-19 pandemic. Presidential Office Deputy Secretary-General Ho Chih-wei pointed out that Taiwan's food industry output value has exceeded NT$1 trillion, becoming a vital industry supporting civilian consumption and economic development.
The 2026 Taipei International Food Show Series, organized by TAITRA, combines five exhibitions: the Taipei International Food Show, Taipei International Food Processing Machinery Show, Taiwan International Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry Show, Taipei International Packaging Industry Show, and Taiwan International Hotel and Restaurant Equipment Show. It will be held from June 24th to 27th at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 and Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 and 2.
Huang Chih-fang stated that 33 countries are exhibiting this year with 1750 companies participating, using 4700 booths, making it the largest scale since the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 and 2, the exhibition has also expanded to Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1.
He pointed out that 21 countries have set up national pavilions this year, with the top 5 largest in scale being the USA Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, Latin America Pavilion, Canada Pavilion, and Korea Pavilion. The Taiwan Pavilion brings together food companies from all over Taiwan to jointly showcase the strength of Taiwan's food industry.
Huang Chih-fang mentioned that international buyers from 88 countries have been invited to Taiwan this year, with pre-registered numbers exceeding 3000. One-on-one procurement meetings will also be arranged during the exhibition to help companies expand their overseas markets and create more business opportunities.
Ho Chih-wei stated in his speech that Taiwan's food industry has developed into an important economic pillar. Currently, there are about 8000 food-related companies in Taiwan, creating approximately 240,000 job opportunities, with an output value exceeding NT$1 trillion.
He also pointed out that the government will, through the SME Revitalization Program, introduce measures such as artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, smart cold chain, digital management, and green supply chains to help the food industry enhance its competitiveness and accelerate digital and low-carbon transformation.
