(CNA Shanghai, June 24) Hashimoto Gaku, acting chairman of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade (JAPIT) and former Japanese Vice Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, recently visited China to attend the Supply Chain Expo. On the 22nd, he held talks with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying. Hashimoto Gaku expressed JAPIT's desire to form another delegation to visit China, to which Hua Chunying responded with welcome.

According to a report by Japan's Kyodo News, Hashimoto Gaku and a delegation of four visited China from the 21st to the 24th to observe the China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo (Supply Chain Expo).

Speaking to the media in Beijing on the 23rd, Hashimoto Gaku stated that he held talks with Hua Chunying in Beijing on the 22nd. Hashimoto Gaku expressed JAPIT's desire to form another delegation to visit China, to which Hua Chunying responded with "welcome."

Sino-Japanese relations took a sharp turn for the worse last November after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi made remarks about "Taiwan contingency." Hashimoto Gaku said, "Meeting with Hua Chunying, engaging in dialogue about each other's positions, and finding a starting point for exchange is a significant achievement."

Yohei Kono, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and former chairman of JAPIT, passed away on the 8th of this month. JAPIT had originally planned to send a 50-person delegation led by Yohei Kono, but the delegation's visit to China has been postponed.

The report also mentioned that Hashimoto Gaku's father is the late Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto, who also served as chairman of JAPIT. (Editor: Lu Jia-rong) 1150624
