(Central News Agency reporter Wu Rui-chi, Taoyuan, June 24) A convenience store in Taoyuan City experienced an incident on the evening of June 23 where a naked man went on a rampage. Police responded to the scene, apprehended the man surnamed Lin, and discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his plastic bag. He was subsequently transferred for investigation on charges including violation of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act and property damage.

Lin Shih-chuan, deputy chief of the Qingxi Police Station under the Taoyuan Precinct of the Taoyuan City Police Bureau, told reporters today that police received a report from the convenience store at 6:07 PM on June 23, stating that a completely naked man had lost control and was smashing the glass doors of the store's freezers. Upon arrival, officers found the man sitting at the store's entrance and immediately moved to control him to prevent further harm.

Lin Shih-chuan stated that officers and store employees promptly provided the man with a red cloth from the store to cover himself and proceeded to verify his identity. During the search, it was discovered that the plastic bag carried by Lin contained contraband such as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Police seized the relevant evidence on the spot in accordance with the law. Following interrogation, the case was transferred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for investigation on charges including violation of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act and property damage.

Lin Shih-chuan said that drugs not only harm an individual's physical and mental health but can also lead to loss of control, thereby endangering public safety. Police will continue to strengthen efforts to combat drug crimes, tracing their origins and eradicating their roots.
