Police stated that two private cars were affected at the scene, with no injuries reported. The city government explained that cleanup has been completed, and it is suspected that root rot caused by brown root rot disease led to the incident. A comprehensive health check of surrounding roadside trees will be conducted.
Police explained that they received a report of a tree falling around 1 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a tree on the sidewalk had fallen, affecting two vehicles parked on the roadside. No injuries were caused, and traffic flow was not impacted. Traffic cones were placed at the scene, traffic control was implemented, and relevant authorities were notified for handling.
Taichung City's Construction Bureau stated that after receiving the report, personnel and contractors were immediately dispatched to the scene, and cleanup was completed by 10:10 a.m.
The Construction Bureau's preliminary assessment suggests that the tree fell due to root rot caused by brown root rot disease.
