Taipei, June 25 (CNA) The Office of Professionalization of Admissions for Vocational and Technical Colleges announced today that drones are becoming indispensable emerging tools, with monthly salaries for practitioners reaching NT$100,000. Technical high schools in the power machinery group are introducing drone and AI courses, changing the past impression of "blue-collar workers."

The Office of Professionalization of Admissions for Vocational and Technical Colleges issued a press release today. Executive Director Chen Su-fen stated that in the past, when people mentioned the power machinery group, most would think of industries such as automobiles, aircraft, or rail transportation. However, with the rapid development of drone technology, flying vehicles have become an important application area in emerging industries.

To meet the development needs of the drone industry, many vocational high schools have incorporated emerging technologies related to flying vehicles into their curriculum planning. This is not limited to basic flight but also combines core content such as flying vehicle design and manufacturing, AI image recognition, sensor technology, and 3D modeling.

Zhang Shun-zhou, director of the Aviation Maintenance Department at Fangshu Commercial and Industrial Vocational High School in Taoyuan City, pointed out that drone technology has rapidly expanded from military applications to smart agriculture, disaster response, energy inspection, and logistics delivery, driving the growth of related talent demand. Specialized pilots with professional software application or data analysis skills can earn monthly salaries of NT$100,000 or more.

Zhang Shun-zhou stated that modern vocational students and curricula have long transformed from simple manual labor skills to professional capabilities that combine technology, data, and innovation. Through professional courses, students can not only cultivate operational skills, regulatory awareness, and obtain professional certifications but also gain early exposure to industry trends and future development directions, understanding the development potential and career opportunities in emerging technology industries.
