(Central News Agency, reporter Zhang Qian, Hong Kong, June 25) Hong Kong media analysis suggests that relevant parties within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will begin assessing candidates for the CCP Central Committee in the second half of this year, indicating that the CCP will enter its "21st Congress time" starting in June.
In an article published today, Ming Pao pointed out that the CCP History Exhibition Hall announced yesterday that it would be temporarily closed today and tomorrow for "security of important activities." Although the museum did not specify what "important activities" it was securing, July 1st marks the 105th anniversary of the CCP's founding, and it is believed to be related to this.
The article directly stated, "This June also marks the CCP's entry into '21st Congress time'."
The article cited several signs, such as on June 5th, when Cai Qi, a member of the CCP Politburo Standing Committee, made his first appearance as President of the Central Party School, marking the formal retirement of 72-year-old Chen Xi from the political stage. In April 2025, two Politburo members, Shi Taifeng and Li Ganjie, made a rare exchange of positions, with Tsinghua alumnus Li Ganjie taking over as head of the CCP's United Front Work Department, and Shi Taifeng becoming head of the CCP's Organization Department.
The article stated that this indicates Cai Qi and Shi Taifeng will be involved in personnel arrangements for the CCP's 21st Congress.
Furthermore, on June 15th, the CCP convened the "National Party Building Work Symposium," where "Xi Jinping's Thought on Party Building" was proposed for the first time, and 14 "insistences" were summarized, including upholding the centralized and unified leadership of the CCP Central Committee, upholding strict and comprehensive governance of the Party, and upholding the "building of a high-quality cadre team capable of undertaking the great task of national rejuvenation."
The article analyzed that these "insistences" are believed to become the standards for assessing candidates for high-ranking positions at the 21st Congress.
The article predicts that the CCP's 21st Congress will be held in the autumn of 2027, electing a new Central Committee and Central Commission for Discipline Inspection members. It is expected that starting from the end of July this year, the CCP Central Committee will dispatch 45 inspection teams in three batches to conduct assessments in 31 provincial-level administrative regions, 124 "central and state organs," and other entities.
Concurrently, the CCP Central Military Commission will also dispatch 8 inspection teams to assess senior military officials. (Editor: Qiu Guoqiang) 1150625
