Cathay Life Women's Basketball Celebrates 33rd Consecutive Title; Head Coach Praises Youth Integration

Cathay Life Women's Basketball clinched its 33rd consecutive championship by defeating Chunghwa Telecom 3-0 in the 21st WSBL Finals. This streak spans the team’s historical tenure in the Social A-League and its continued dominance since the establishment of the Women's Super Basketball League (WSBL).

Head Coach Cheng Hui-yun noted that the achievement reflects the players' discipline and execution. Cheng highlighted the successful integration of younger players, specifically citing the performance of center Hsiao Yu-wen, whose training regimen was intensified to prepare her for upcoming international competitions like the Asian Games.

Team veteran Huang Ling-chuan emphasized the importance of mentorship, stating that the team prioritizes creating an inclusive environment to prevent gaps in succession. Current team captain Cheng I-hsiu acknowledged that while maintaining a multi-decade winning streak creates significant pressure, it also serves as a benchmark for team growth and the collective responsibility shared between veteran and rookie players.
