Status of Work and School Closures Across Taiwan on June 26 Due to Typhoon Mekkhala and Southwest Monsoon

Due to the northward movement of Typhoon Mekkhala and the strengthening of the southwest monsoon, heavy rainfall has been reported in the Kaohsiung-Pingtung and northern regions. Pingtung County recorded over 500mm of cumulative rainfall on June 25. The Central Weather Administration continues to issue an extreme heavy rain warning for Pingtung County, with potential for further torrential rain in the next 24 hours. The following is a summary of the work and school suspension status for June 26:

Keelung City, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City: Normal work and classes.

Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County: Normal work and classes.

Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County: Normal work and classes.

Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County: Normal work and classes.

Tainan City: Normal work and classes.

Kaohsiung City: Normal work and classes, except for the following districts where work and classes are suspended: Namasia, Taoyuan, Jiaxian, Liugui, Maolin, Meinong, Qishan, Neimen, Shanlin, and Tianliao.

Pingtung County: Work and classes suspended.

Yilan County, Hualien County, Taitung County: Normal work and classes.

Penghu County, Kinmen County, Lienchiang County: Normal work and classes.
