TRA Finalizes Negotiations for Taipei Main Station Retail Space; Contract Signing with Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Expected by End of June

The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) confirmed today that it has finalized contract negotiations with Shin Kong Mitsukoshi for the operation of the Taipei Main Station retail space. Shin Kong Mitsukoshi is currently completing its corporate registration, with the official signing and notarization of the contract expected before the end of June.

The current operator, Breeze Center, has a contract running until July 24. Following a bidding process on April 28, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi was selected as the preferred applicant.

Recent reports suggested potential service disruptions as Breeze reportedly notified tenants to vacate early. In response, the TRA convened a coordination meeting between Breeze and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi on June 24. During the meeting, it was clarified that Breeze had indeed planned early closures. However, the TRA emphasized that per the existing ROT contract, operations must continue without interruption until the end of the term. Breeze has now agreed to honor its contractual obligations through July 24 and will submit a revised handover plan for TRA approval.

Shin Kong Mitsukoshi stated that approximately 90% of existing tenants (around 110 shops) have expressed interest in remaining. The TRA remains committed to ensuring service continuity and quality at the station while assisting Shin Kong Mitsukoshi with its transition preparations.
