Taiwan Stocks Rise 428.14 Points

(CNA Taipei, June 29) The Taiwan stock market today fluctuated and rose, closing up 428.14 points at 44999.9 points, an increase of 0.96%, with a transaction value of NT$997.514 billion.

The weighted index opened at 44594.81 points, reaching a high of 45521.63 points and a low of 44594.81 points during the session; the index excluding financial stocks was 40413.01 points, up 449.31 points.

Percentage changes for the eight major stock categories: Cement and Ceramics up 1.01%, Food up 1.01%, Petrochemicals up 3.18%, Textiles up 1.86%, Machinery and Electricity up 1.07%, Paper up 1.14%, Construction up 0.75%, and Financials down 0.92%.

Buy orders were 20,609,116 shares, sell orders were 14,344,629 shares, and transaction volume was 11,032,850 shares.

At the close, 680 stocks advanced, 333 declined, and 85 remained unchanged.

The top 5 stocks by transaction volume were AU Optronics, Innolux, Yuanta Taiwan 50 Plus 2, UMC, and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing.

The top 5 stocks by percentage gain were Materials-KY, Supreme, Li Peng Enterprise, Solar Applied Materials, and Aimex-KY.
