Heavy Rain Advisory Issued for 15 Municipalities Due to Strong Convection

(CNA reporter Chang Hsiung-feng Taipei, June 29) The Central Weather Administration issued a heavy rain advisory this morning, stating that strong convective cloud development is likely to cause short-duration heavy rainfall. Localized heavy rain is expected in central and northern Taiwan and southern mountainous areas in the afternoon. Taitung County and the Hengchun Peninsula may also experience localized heavy showers.

The areas under the heavy rain advisory include the North Coast, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, mountainous areas of Tainan City, mountainous areas of Kaohsiung City, and mountainous areas of Pingtung County.

The Weather Administration reminds the public to be aware of lightning and strong gusts. Mountainous areas should be cautious of landslides, falling rocks, and rising river levels. Low-lying areas should be prepared for flooding. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150629
