(Central News Agency, Stockholm, June 28, Comprehensive Foreign News) A lightning strike occurred today at an amusement park in southern Sweden. Park and government officials stated that lightning struck a tree within the park, causing multiple injuries, one of them serious.
According to Agence France-Presse, the Tosselilla Sommarland amusement park posted on its official Facebook account: "Severe thunderstorms occurred over Tosselilla today, resulting in multiple lightning strikes directly hitting the park and causing several injuries."
The park initially claimed there were no serious injuries on site, but local health officials later stated that a 45-year-old woman was receiving treatment in the hospital for "serious injuries."
Two other injured individuals were transported to the hospital by ambulance, while two adults and five children were also seeking medical assistance.
"These individuals sustained minor injuries," the Skane Region health authority in Sweden said in a statement.
Swedish Public Television (SVT) reported that the amusement park had anticipated the storm and ensured that no visitors were on rides or in the swimming pools of the water park.
However, lightning still struck a tree within the park, causing a group of passersby to be hit by tree debris.
As severe thunderstorms and heavy rain swept across southern Sweden, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) also issued a warning today for most areas in southern Sweden. (Intern Editor: Wang Bojie / Reviewer: Zhang Mingxuan) 1150629
