Chen Po-kai Drafted First Overall by Fubon Guardians, Older Brother Chen Pin-hung Imagines Playing Behind Him

(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 29) Fubon Guardians selected shortstop Chen Po-kai as the first overall pick in the CPBL draft, fulfilling his wish to play with his older brother Chen Pin-hung. Pitcher Chen Pin-hung immediately called out to his younger brother, "Let's win the championship together," and joked that he has already started imagining his brother playing defense behind him.

The Fubon Guardians held the first overall pick in this year's draft and selected Chen Po-kai, an 18-year-old shortstop and recent graduate of Daxi High School. He will join his older brother, pitcher Chen Pin-hung, on the same team. Chen Pin-hung was present at the draft to follow his brother's situation and admitted he was more nervous than when he was drafted himself.

Chen Po-kai expressed his happiness at the opportunity given by the Guardians organization. He has never played on the same team as his brother before and hopes to work together on the first-team stage in the future, playing defense behind his brother.

Chen Po-kai joked that he didn't sleep well last night, only falling asleep at 2 AM. He felt both nervous and excited at the draft venue. His brother didn't give him any special advice, just told him to relax. "My brother has a lot of confidence in me," he said, and felt a weight lifted when his name was called.

Chen Po-kai stands 187 cm tall with excellent physical condition, outstanding power, and long-ball hitting ability. His shortstop defense shows good reaction and mobility, earning him a "high ceiling" evaluation. Chen Po-kai stated that he knows the team values his hitting ability and hopes to perform well on the professional stage.

After the draft, Chen Pin-hung immediately called out to his younger brother, Chen Po-kai: "Let's work hard together and win the championship together."
