Investors bought technology stocks on dips, driving the rebound in U.S. stocks on the 29th. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 306.63 points, or 0.59%; the S&P 500 Index rose 86.41 points, or 1.18%; the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 522.52 points, or 2.07%; the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 506.09 points, or 3.83%.
In domestic and international industry news, printed circuit board equipment manufacturer Kintronic Industrial announced on the 29th that its board of directors approved a global exclusive technology license to Brooks Automation for the development and application of semiconductor wafer front opening unified pods (FOUP) cleaning equipment. According to the agreement, the total one-time licensing fee is US$16 million (approximately NT$510 million).
Cable and stainless steel manufacturer Walsin Lihwa stated that due to the strengthening U.S. dollar, metal prices have shown a volatile trend. Major stainless steel raw materials such as nickel and scrap stainless steel have weakened. The prices of stainless steel wire rod products, including the 200, 300, and 400 series, will remain flat in July. Some raw materials such as ferromolybdenum continue to rise, and coupled with peak summer electricity consumption, steel mills' cost pressures remain.
EVA Air stated that the surge in AI server shipments has driven air cargo rates to remain high, with charter flights and urgent orders also increasing. The company is optimistic about continued growth in cargo volume and prices in the second half of the year, driven by the traditional peak season.
