(CNA reporter Tseng Jen-kai Taipei, June 30) Chicony Electronics, the global leader in computer keyboards, has seen its stock price weaken recently, facing a battle to defend the NT$100 mark. To protect shareholder interests, Chicony's board of directors resolved today to buy back 6,000 treasury shares.

Chicony's stock price rose NT$3, or 2.97%, to close at NT$104 today.

Chicony stated that it plans to buy back its shares on the open market from July 1 to August 31. The planned buyback is for 6,000 shares, representing approximately 0.78% of the company's total outstanding shares. The buyback price range is between NT$100 and NT$150 per share, and the company will continue to buy back shares if the price falls below the lower limit of the buyback range.

Chicony stated that the treasury shares repurchased this time will be fully canceled through capital reduction in accordance with the law, demonstrating the company's absolute confidence in its long-term fundamentals and value expansion through concrete actions.

Chicony indicated that its stock price has not fully reflected its intrinsic value due to the recent impact of the global macroeconomic environment and short-term market fluctuations. Chicony has maintained a stable operating approach for a long time. As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, its current assets reached NT$79.9 billion, with ample working capital on hand. The budget allocated for this treasury share buyback is NT$900 million, which accounts for only 1.13% of its first-quarter current assets. This will not affect the company's existing global production capacity layout, new product research and development progress, or future capital expenditure momentum. (Editor: Yang Lan-hsuan) 1150630
