(CNA reporter Tseng Jen-kai Taipei, July 1) The Taiwan stock market saw a significant surge of 17162.31 points in the first half of this year, setting a historical record and attracting a flood of public interest in the stock market. According to statistics from the Taiwan Stock Exchange, as of the end of June, the cumulative total number of stock accounts in Taiwan reached 14,487,981, an increase of approximately 155,000 from May, setting a new record high. This represents a surge of 720,156 accounts in the past six months.

According to the Taiwan Stock Exchange's June investor account opening age distribution statistics, the cumulative number of accounts for individuals under 19 years old is 785,558, an increase of 109,693 in six months. The cumulative number of accounts for those aged 20 to 30 is 1,854,051, an increase of 68,171 in six months. The cumulative number of accounts for those aged 31 to 40 is 2,357,847, an increase of 122,620 in six months.

The cumulative number of accounts for those aged 41 to 50 is 2,704,355, an increase of 95,144 in six months. The cumulative number of accounts for those aged 51 to 60 is 2,397,572, an increase of 65,218 in six months. The cumulative number of accounts for those aged 61 and above is 4,273,840, an increase of 251,804 in six months.
