(CNA, reporter Li Hui-ting, Pingtung County, July 1) The Pingtung County Government announced today that in response to recent heavy rains causing widespread flooding, financial assistance will be provided for flood-damaged vehicles. Cars and large motorcycles will receive up to NT$20,000, while scooters will receive up to NT$2,000. Applications are now open.
A press release from the Pingtung County Government stated that on June 25th, due to the influence of the outer circulation of Typhoon Mekala, a frontal system, and the southwest monsoon, intense rainfall led to flooding in many areas. To alleviate the financial burden on county residents, an assistance program has been established.
The Civil Affairs Department explained that the program targets natural persons, companies, or organizations registered in Pingtung with valid vehicle registration licenses, whose vehicles were damaged by flooding within Pingtung's jurisdiction. Vehicle owners can apply from today until August 31st at 5:00 PM. Required documents include an ID card, vehicle registration license, photos or videos of the damage, and repair invoices or receipts. Applications should be submitted to the township or city office where the vehicle owner is registered. Each applicant is limited to one application.
The Civil Affairs Department stated that assistance for cars and large motorcycles is capped at NT$20,000 per vehicle. For scooters, including registered electric light motorcycles, the assistance is capped at NT$2,000 per vehicle. Residents are urged to apply within the deadline. (Editor: Chen Ching-fang) 1150701
