TOKYO, July 1 (CNA) -- Eight people reported feeling unwell and five were taken to the hospital after a bear repellent spray was allegedly discharged at a post office in Nagoya's Kanayama district on Friday morning, according to local fire and police officials.
The incident occurred at the Nagoya Nagarecho Post Office, where someone reported that a bear repellent spray had been released and multiple people were experiencing discomfort.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find eight individuals feeling unwell. Of those, five were transported to medical facilities for treatment. All individuals who felt unwell were conscious, according to Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting (CBC).
The man carrying the spray was also present at the scene. Police are investigating the situation further and currently believe that a member of the public accidentally discharged the bear repellent spray inside the post office. (Compiled by Yang Wei-ching) 1150701
