(CNA Taipei, July 1) Major League Baseball (MLB) Detroit Tigers' Taiwanese prospect Lee Hao-yu started today and got a hit in 4 at-bats, marking his second consecutive game with a hit. Boston Red Sox's Taiwanese player Cheng Tsung-che did not get a hit today but was involved in a bench-clearing brawl.

The Tigers played the New York Yankees today. Lee Hao-yu, the Taiwanese infielder on the Tigers, started at second base batting ninth. In the top of the 2nd inning, Lee Hao-yu struck out against Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler. In the top of the 4th, he hit a fly ball to center field for an out.

In the top of the 6th inning, Lee Hao-yu hit a ground ball to third base for an out against Yankees left-handed reliever Ryan Yarbrough. In the top of the 9th, facing Yankees right-handed reliever Jake Bird, he hit a single to left field, but his teammates couldn't extend the rally. Lee Hao-yu went 1-for-4 today, with his batting average now at .258.

The Tigers collected 11 hits as a team today, including 5 home runs. In the top of the 1st inning, Kerry Carpenter and Riley Greene hit back-to-back solo homers, followed by a 2-run homer from Spencer Torkelson, giving them an early 4-0 lead.

Ben Rice hit a solo homer for the Yankees in the bottom of the 1st to narrow the gap. In the top of the 3rd, Greene hit his second homer of the game, a 2-run shot, to extend the Tigers' lead. In the top of the 6th, James Outman added a 3-run homer.

All 9 runs scored by the Tigers today came via home runs. The Yankees scored one run each in the bottom of the 6th and 9th innings, but it wasn't enough. The Tigers won the game 9-3.

The Red Sox played the Washington Nationals today. Cheng Tsung-che started at shortstop batting ninth for the Red Sox. In the bottom of the 3rd, he hit a ground ball to third for an out. In the bottom of the 6th, he hit a ground ball to second for an out. In the bottom of the 8th, he hit a fly ball to right field for an out.

A notable incident occurred in the bottom of the 4th inning. After Nationals starting pitcher Cade Cavalli struck out Willson Contreras, it triggered a bench-clearing brawl between the two teams. Players from both sides rushed onto the field, causing an 11-minute delay. Red Sox acting manager Chad Tracy, Contreras, Nate Eaton, and Nationals' Miles Mikolas were all ejected.
