(Central News Agency, reporters Lin Chang-shun and Huang Li-yun, Taipei, July 2) A female police officer from the Xinyi Precinct of the Taipei City Police Department has been accused of being listed for joint case investigation awards without participating in frontline searches. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office has opened a case, with prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption and Black Gold Task Force investigating to clarify whether anyone is suspected of document forgery.

Media reports indicate that the female officer, surnamed Ding, was anonymously reported for allegedly being listed for awards under the guise of joint case investigation without actually participating in frontline searches for some cases. The report also claims that Officer Ding accumulated over 500 commendations in one year.

The Xinyi Precinct stated that the preparation of documents related to the commendation process for criminal cases was not fully complete, indicating procedural negligence. Relevant awards will be revoked after an investigation to uphold the discipline of rewarding merit; furthermore, regarding the suspected document forgery by the officer, the precinct has proactively reported the matter to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation and will fully cooperate with the inquiry.

The Xinyi Precinct emphasized that it continues to require officers to handle commendation applications truthfully and complete all procedures. If any violations of relevant laws occur, the precinct will uphold a stance of not condoning or concealing, and will proactively investigate to protect the reputation of the police force.

The Taipei District Prosecutors Office stated that this case is a self-initiated investigation by the police and has been assigned for inquiry, with investigations proceeding under the charge of making false entries in official documents by a public servant under the Penal Code.
