Affected by Problematic Salad Oil, Taishin Expands Refund Scope to Include More Products

(Central News Agency, Reporter Cheng Wei-chen, Changhua, July 2nd) The cooking oil raw material "benzopyrene," a carcinogen, exceeded standards in the soybean salad oil produced by Chung Lien Oil.

Taishin Enterprise Co., Ltd., which was affected, stated that it immediately conducted a comprehensive precautionary delisting and recall and has expanded the scope of refunds. Customers who purchased 10 listed items between April and June of this year can apply for a refund.

Taishin announced on Facebook today that after receiving notification on June 30th that the raw materials from its contract manufacturer, Chung Lien Oil, did not meet regulations, it immediately and proactively expanded the scope of potentially contaminated product items. It also promptly notified relevant authorities for inspection, conducted a comprehensive precautionary delisting and recall, and expanded the refund scope.

Taishin announced that for purchases made between April and June of this year, the following items are eligible for refunds based on customer preference, regardless of batch:

Golden Crispy Frying Oil 18L, Salad Oil 18L, Taishin Unsaturated Soybean Salad Oil 2.6L, Eco-friendly Iron Drum Salad Oil 18kg, Taishin Selected Vegetable Oil 3L, Taishin Good Reason Blended Oil 2L, Taishin Peanut Flavor Blended Oil 2L, Taishin Soybean Salad Oil 0.6L, Taishin European Fruit Essence Blended Oil 1.5L, and Taishin Good Reason Blended Oil 0.6L.

Taishin stated that all subsequent related products must undergo inspection by a third-party impartial unit, SGS. Until the safety of each product is confirmed, no item will be allowed back on the market.
