(CNA, reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, July 2) The Tainan City Government announced today that the basic design engineering budget for Phase 1 of the Tainan Metro Blue Line has been approved by the Executive Yuan's Public Construction Commission, with a total budget of NT$31.274 billion approved. The city government will commence subsequent procurement operations.

The Tainan City Government's Department of Transportation stated today that the central government has agreed to allocate construction funds for Phase 1 of the Tainan Metro Blue Line project. The city government will begin subsequent procurement work, entering the substantive construction phase. Issues such as the over-track solution at the Dongmen Road intersection and underground pipeline (box culvert) handling will also be addressed in the subsequent detailed design phase to propose the optimal solution.

The Department of Transportation explained that Phase 1 of the Tainan Metro Blue Line starts from Tainan Railway Station's Daqiao Station in the north, heading south along Zhonghua Road in Yongkang District and Dongmen Road in East District to the Cultural Center. From the intersection of Dongmen Road and Zhonghua East Road, it follows Dongmen Road eastward to the Rende Transit Hub on Zhongshan Road in Rende District.
