(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Ruiqi, Taoyuan, July 2) A four-vehicle collision occurred on National Freeway No. 1 northbound at kilometer 53.2 in the Taoyuan section at approximately 8:40 PM tonight. A 24-ton large truck overturned and crushed a passenger car, trapping one person inside. After rescue by police and firefighters, the trapped individual was sent to the hospital. The accident temporarily blocked the outer three lanes.

The Taoyuan City Fire Department stated that a total of nine people, including the trapped individual, were injured in the accident and have been sent to hospitals for treatment.

The First Highway Police Brigade of the National Freeway Bureau stated that at 8:40 PM, they received a report from the Taoyuan City Police Department's 110 hotline regarding a four-vehicle accident on National Freeway No. 1 northbound at kilometer 53.2 in the Taoyuan section. Upon receiving the report, police immediately dispatched patrol cars to the scene and simultaneously notified the traffic control center, crash attenuator trucks, ambulances, and fire departments for rescue. The accident blocked the outer three lanes, affecting traffic flow behind it.

Upon arrival at the scene, the First Highway Police Brigade discovered that a 24-ton large truck had overturned on the outer auxiliary lane and was crushing a passenger car, trapping one person inside. Fortunately, the person was conscious. After being rescued by firefighters, they were sent to the hospital for treatment.

The First Highway Police Brigade stated that police patrol cars were implementing traffic release at the end of the backlog, providing warnings and guidance. The traffic control center simultaneously issued traffic information via Variable Message Signs (CMS) and Police Radio, reminding drivers to detour in advance.
