(CNA Reporter Wu Chia-hao, Taipei, July 2nd) Mondal, which owns a chain of baseball and softball batting cages, held an investor conference today. With the completion of the sale of its retail business, the company will continue to focus on its three core businesses: sports and leisure, overseas operations, and construction and development. New locations in the United States and Japan will begin operations successively in the second half of this year, further expanding its overseas footprint and adding momentum to future operations.
Mondal stated that it currently has four baseball and softball batting centers in the U.S. market, with the fifth location, in San Antonio, Texas, scheduled to open in August. The San Antonio store, spanning 768 ping, will not only be Mondal's largest store in the U.S. to date but will also be the first to incorporate composite entertainment and dining spaces, including Party Rooms and a full-sized bar, catering to family gatherings, corporate events, and group consumption.
Mondal indicated that as its U.S. operating model gradually matures, it will continue to promote its baseball entertainment and composite leisure operating models based on the characteristics of each regional market, steadily expanding the North American market.
Furthermore, the Japanese market will see significant progress in the third quarter of this year. Mondal Japan has completed the acquisition of two baseball batting centers in Chiba and Utsunomiya in the Kanto region. The venues are currently undergoing renovations and equipment upgrades. Both facilities will incorporate HitTrax baseball interactive technology and electronic darts, along with diverse leisure and entertainment content, upgrading traditional Japanese baseball batting cages into Taiwanese-style batting cages that combine diverse leisure and entertainment services. They are expected to open under the Mondal brand in September.
In addition to the ongoing overseas expansion, Mondal will open its first TOROKO HomeRun Lab in Taiwan on July 6th. Located in Neihu District, Taipei City, and covering 60 ping, it will integrate retail of baseball and softball merchandise, custom equipment selection, and technology-assisted training. Through HitTrax and the Swing-X AI batting coach system, customized batting skill data can be established, providing amateur baseball enthusiasts with an integrated service from equipment selection and ability assessment to training improvement.
Mondal stated that it will continue to build upon the sports and leisure service experience accumulated over many years in Taiwan, flexibly introducing baseball and softball experiences, merchandise retail, technological applications, and composite dining services. It will also continue to develop replicable and exportable operating frameworks based on different market demands, starting from Taiwan and continuously expanding into the global market.
