(CNA Joint Base Andrews, July 1st, Combined News Service) Latest financial disclosure documents show that U.S. President Trump earned $1.2 billion (approximately NT$38.2 billion) last year through his family's cryptocurrency activities. Trump defended this today, claiming that "everyone profited" during his administration.

Agence France-Presse reported that Trump, during his first flight on the new Air Force One gifted by Qatar, refuted accusations that he used his presidential position for personal gain.

Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews, near Washington D.C., "You know why I profit? Because the stock market is up, and everyone is profiting."

The 80-year-old Republican said his income has been placed in blind trusts to ensure he cannot increase his personal wealth by influencing government policy.

"I don't get involved in my (finances), we have funds that manage my money. I made a lot of money before I was president, they invest my money, I don't discuss it with them," Trump said.

Although these earnings are related to cryptocurrency ventures he launched in his first year returning to the White House, Trump still insisted his wealth comes from his past career.

He said, "I don't know if my career in politics or business was more successful, but I had outstanding achievements in business, you can see the cash flow, and you've reported a lot of things."

"So we are all profiting. I profit because I had a lot of capital and a lot of cash to begin with."

According to financial disclosure documents released yesterday by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, Trump's relationship with the startup World Liberty Financial in 2025 brought him nearly $550 million in revenue.

World Liberty Financial was co-founded in September 2024 by Trump's sons and the son of Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff.

Trump's sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, flew with their father today on the new Air Force One, which was donated by Qatar and has also raised ethical questions.

The 927-page document also mentioned that Trump received $635 million in royalties from licensing agreements related to the cryptocurrency $TRUMP, which was issued hours before Trump's inauguration in January 2025.

Financial disclosure documents show that Trump also earned millions of dollars from the sale of a range of branded merchandise, including bumper stickers and Bibles.

According to Forbes magazine, Trump's cryptocurrency-related activities were the main reason his personal wealth nearly tripled, with his net worth increasing from $2.3 billion to $6.5 billion between 2024 and 2026.

During his term, Trump enacted deregulation measures for the industry, leading to an increase in asset prices.

The White House issued a statement today saying that Trump "proudly made America the cryptocurrency capital of the world." Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said in a statement provided to Agence France-Presse, "The President or his family has never been and will never be involved in any conflict of interest."
